Why Moroccan Schools Need To Improve

The economy of Morocco continues to become service-based and the job market are more focused in employing people with new skills that can be applied in real life as well as competencies. The only problem lies with the teaching of foreign languages and how it does not meet the needs of the students who are already struggling in the 21st century.

Though there are many documents official supporting the teaching of English as well as statements released in various press conferences, this learning of a foreign language still follows strict traditional paradigms.

In a recent statement from the Minister of National Education and Vocational Training, Mr Rachid Benmoukhtar, expressed that they are focusing more on foreign languages in order to create more opportunities for the future generation so they may be able to easily find a job and be more competitive since everything is constantly changing. This sentiment is not new and has also been expressed last 2000 during the National Charter on Education and Training as well as the two previous school years.

The question is what the government is doing in the education system in order for this statement to take effect as said by the minister. Though there have been many claims in the official statements as well as documents, none have been implemented in Moroccan schools. The only step that the ministry of education did to improve the teaching of English in the country is through the adoption of International and Vocational Streams for the Moroccan Baccalaureate. In reality and practice in schools, there is no change when it comes to promoting the English language. As a proof, the teachers are still using the same books in school and the teaching materials are still the same – with the use of board and chalk. In general, the curriculum as well as the syllabus remains unchanged.

It is known that in order for the schools to teach another language more proficiently, there should be assessment procedures done. With the growing need for more competent teachers, native English speakers get paid to teach English abroad.

A Fix For Recycling That Could Impact Packaging

Recycle Across America’s founder and Executive Director, Michelle Hedlund, who is more commonly known as Mitch said that recycling is one of the major factors that could have the greatest impact on environmental change. The company Recycle Across America is known to be an advocate when it comes to recycling and their brainchild is referred to by The New York Times as one of the most essential fixes that has been introduced these days.

The fix is standardized system that can be used when labeling all recycle bins in a nation. It was the creation of a non-profit organization called Recycle Across America. The idea may be simple in nature but it has already caused great change for those who adopted it. According to Hedlund, the method is recycling can have a positive impact on everything related to the environment such as the lowering the level of CO2, reducing wastes that are dumped in the ocean, protecting the sources of fresh water, conservation of energy, to put a stop to the depletion of resources that are limited as well as give attention to the biggest issue today which is climate change. Hedlund does not disregard the fact that there are other measures taken as well in order to answer these issues such as solar power, wind power and other forms of energy source that are more friendly to nature but she expressed how recycling could have the biggest impact compared to all of these.

Hedlund also shared how the recycling industry is not on its tip top shape as there are major problems starting with the garbage bins. She expressed how confusion when it comes to handling the recycling bins has affected the recycling industry. The public should be educated regarding the proper use of these recycling bins and everything will fall into place.

It was in 2011 when the Recycle Across America decided to launch the labeling system and it has now gained popularity and is used in many cities, schools, states and businesses. For packaging supplies that are environment friendly, visit Paper Mart.

How Women Can Rewrite The Rulebook

After winning the Democratic nomination, Hilary Clinton is one step towards being the first woman president of the United States. If Hilary Clinton wins the presidency, her polices will be under close scrutiny particularly on how they affect women. Achieving gender equality remains to be a dream considering that only 4.2% of Fortune 500 companies have female CEOs. The number of female senators in the US is barely 20%.

At the EY World Entrepreneur of the Year event, Margaret Heffernan, a businesswoman and writer talked about some moments of her career where she played a game that was actually designed for men. It is tough to play a men’s game but instead of trying the climb the corporate ladder, a better option for the female population is to rewrite the rulebook. Women can run their own business and not wait for men to make the changes. Women who are in leadership roles whether in business, government or the third sector must make sure to support women and build an environment that will be supportive to the female population. Female CEO’s can help women by hiring and promoting them. They should also consider how their actions will affect their employees particularly women.

Technology has helped in creating new entrepreneurs but it is also threatening some of the jobs that women use to hold. Because of the internet, people can work anywhere they want to according to their own time but it also being used to automate different jobs like administrative work that is traditionally done by women staff. According to predictions, 40% of the American workforce will be working as freelancers. While online jobs reduce unemployment rates, it can also be detrimental to women because of less pay and lack of job security. Technology opens many opportunities but is can be a threat to low-earning jobs. How can a balance be created?
